Thanks for the advice Harvey, i followed the manual instruction on the shims, so i did it that way.
I can see why it helps to raise the rear of the car, it's because the engine/box comes out at an angle.
My problem now is that i stripped the thread of the upper chain (new!) tensioner where its tiny plug fits. I swear that i didn't try too much! I 'll have to take the tensioner out to investigate.
Talking about stripped threads... i hope not... but i will mention it.
The spark plugs on the replacement engine were extremely tight.
Thankfully all came out but the one on Number 2 cylinder picked up slightly on the cylinder head. It is not too bad, and i hope that with some copper grease the new plug will bolt on OK.
I hate to remove the head now!
