my question is what is the easiest manual box to fit to a 73 rover p6b 3.5 v8 is the sd15 speed box a straight swap, what would need changing?..

That's probably the easiest and best choice.

You'll need the LT77 with a V8 bellhousing and clutch complete, gearlever, crossmember and spigot bush, a manual pedal box, clutch master and slave, and you can use your auto propshaft. Search for Vaultsman's thread where documents the conversion he did on his own car, which was on a manual car but it will all be the same, you'll just have to sort the pedals in addition to what he did.

Hi Falcons

Yes, the LT77 (and later R380) are by far the easiest in the UK. You will need everything from the back of the engine on an SD1, or source the same bits separately from other vehicles. ie crank spigot, flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, clutch release mechanism and gearbox. Your existing prop shaft is suitable as is. You will need to shorten the gearlever that comes with the box and make/adapt some brackets for the gearbox rear monting to the car. If the box you buy has a mechanical speedo drive, you will need to buy a suitable speedo cable - these are available off the shelf - and then have your existing speedo recalibrated to suit. If the box has an electronic output there are adaptor sytems to allow the elctronic output to drive your mechanical speedo. Then you need a manual pedal box so that you have a clutch pedal and master cylinder. Depending whether you finish up using one from a P6 3500S, P6 2000/2200 or an SD1 there are then a number of hoops to jump through to allow the pedal to operate the clutch.

Easy Peasy!

I didn't have to shorten the gearlever. If the box has a transducer for the speedo, remove it and fit a driven gear from an LT77 that doesn't.

trying to help my mate sort out fitting a manual box into an auto, we have managed to pick up a pedal box out of a 2200 what do we need to do to make it work, i understand the master cylinder is different on the v8 to the 2000/2200 but does it attach in the same way or what do we need to do? really cant weld so am hoping no major modifications are needed can any one help???
