straight six rover engine...

not sure if anyone will know this but it seems like the best place to ask.
i have got an old rover straight six engine sitting on my drive. it came out of a land rover, i believe they were fitted prior to the use of the 3500 V8 engine in the stage one series...

does anyone know if the ancilliaries, such as carb, starter motor, alternator, etc are the same as you would find on a V8 or am i barking up the wrong tree. its just that i want rid of the engine (shame as i believe it is a good one...) and was thinking that i could keep the bits if they would suit my new V8...

thanks for any info,

cheers,

ian

Sorry Ian

The engine you have is a hangover from the Rover P4, not the P6. It has overhead inlet valves and side exhaust valves so is a very unusual and nearly uniquely Rover design. Put it on Ebay and I'm sure there are people will want it - but not for a P6!

Would that engine fit a 6 cylinder P5 or P4 ?

It should fit with minor mods, but there are two capacities IIRC, 2.6 for the L/R and P4 (I think) and 3.0 for the P5
