I am sorry to have to report another sad loss in the P6 world.

I have today been informed by Roland Shaw, Steve's stepson, that Steve passed away during the early hours of Monday.

In Roland's message he said..

I feel that as the P6 world was such a big part of his & as a result our lives that his passing should not go without mention, although I do not know of the best & most suitable way to do this. We are quite happy for it to be mentioned on the forum.

Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure of meeting Steve, but I'm sure many members here have, and would like to express their sympathy to Roland and the rest of Steve's family.

Yes, I share the sympathies expressed and wish my best to Stephen`s family at this time. It would be a very scary time for him and a rotten time for his family.

I had successful and pleasant business interactions with Steve in my early years of Rover 2000 restorations. I only have good memories of him.

That is very sad indeed. :(

I had many pleasant dealings with Steve from the 1980s right through. He was always a gentleman and a great pleasure to deal with.

I will always remember his kindness and willingness to help.

I wish to express my deepest sympathy to all of Steve's family.

Ron.

Indeed a sad loss. Steve was a character and one of the most pleasant and knowledgable people I've met in the P6 world. I had the pleasure of visiting him and his wife at the unit in Chelmsford on several occasions and it was always a visit I looked forward to.

My condolences and best wishes to Steve's wife and to Roland and the rest of the family.

Sorry to hear this :(
Not actually met in person but had dealings over the phone for years (and my Dad before me) and always had great service.

What a shame and my condolences to his family. I met and bought quite a bit from Steve and he always seemed a very pleasant man. You'd go to Chelmsford for one or two items and come away with a boot full of bits from his 'Batcave' of Rover parts. I even got a couple of NOS parts for my P5B from him. He wasn't particularly old so I'm assuming it may have been that 'long illness' which is usually referred to in news reports. Was that the case?
A great pity & I'm very sorry to hear this news.

Thank you all for your kind words. Steve was liked by all who met him & was held with great affection by his family and quite often regarded with awe, certainly by friends of mine over the years with his encyclopaedic knowledge of P6 parts & his enthusiasm for the cars. He was my stepfather for over 26 years from the age of 11 and I grew up with P6's & P6 parts in every room of the house all through the 80's. He certainly made a big impression on me.
Unfortunately, he had been battling lung cancer for 2 years and had endured a lot of treatment & procedures. He was a fighter to the very end.
He was only 51 years old & we are all feeling quite cheated. He was a doting grandfather to my 2 sons, a loving husband to Gloria and a father & big brother rolled into one for me. We all miss him very much.

Once again, thank you all for your kind words, he would have been extremely touched,

Roland Shaw

Sincere condolances to Gloria and the rest of the family Roly. When I first got (back) into P6's in the mid 1980's I must of spent 40 mins on the phone with Steve on one occassion and all I was doing was ordering a V8 Parts Catalouge. He loved to talk Rover and he was an interesting chap to talk to and of course, a wealth of knowledge. He will be sadly missed. :(

I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Mr Walker's family. He was always a gentleman to deal with, and very knowledgeable about our beloved P6 Rovers. He will be sadly missed.

Haven't been on this forum for a while - and doing so today -- had this bad news.

I met Steve a few times - first time was eons ago at a rally I think at Audley End. Nice chap - amazing how much stuff he could fit in the back of his van!!. Most recently - a couple of years or so ago when I travelled from Belgium to collect some panels from him.

I am pleased that I had the opportunity to meet him and very sorry that life has been cut short.

Cancer is an awful disease that affects practically every family at one point or another.

Condolences to all his family.

Very very sorry to hear this sad news. I met him a few times at P6ROC rallies in the late 1980s and 1990s. A very nice guy. Sincere condolances to all of the Walker Family.
