I want to remove the steering wheel for two reasons.
One, the indicator actuating mechanism is erratic in its operation and, I believe needs its contacts cleaning.
Two, the wheel is cracked in three places and I would rather like to replace it.
I have got the centre piece off ok although a previous owner appears to have thought it wise to attempt its removal by prising it off with a screwdriver!
Anyway, I can't get the whell off the column. I have applied WD40 and tried wiggling, pulling, banging the back of the wheel etc. but it possesses the tenacity of a debt recovery company.
I have thought of two methods. Either a slide hammer, which I don't possess, or a three legged puller, which I do. The problem with the puller, though, is that I don't think it will be able to purchace the rear of the wheel.
Any thoughts?
