Start- up

Back in UK after 6 months in Thailand, (Why, with the weather we have here, leaving behind clear sunny skies and 80F temps?)
Started up the Rover on second morning back. Pleased to say that it started with no dramas and ran smoothly. Cautious run to local supermarket, without any problems.
This time i took the precaution of leaving the car with a full tank of BP Super petrol; I had heard that it contained lots of good additives to stop the fuel separating out when left. So far seems worth the extra cost, as last start-up after leaving the car with 2 gal of Sainsbury's super unleaded, was a disaster and had to have the carb stripped down to clean the muck.
I'll be boking the car in for a 'spring service' soon, so that an expert can look at the underside to see if there are any pending disasters. probably get the oil changed even though it has only done 1,000 mls. since last service and oil change,
I am probably not allowed to make recommendations on this board, but there is a genius locally who rebuilt my carbs and cleared out the muck from the old petrol. he is old style mechanic who really knows his stuff. My car has never run so smoothly.

A genuine old-time mechanic, who really knows his stuff, but is always busy.
When confronted with my Carbs. gummed up with muck from old petrol, he cleaned and rebuilt them and did not even suggest that I bought new ones, or changed to a later 4 barrel.
What will we do when people like Nigel are not in business. he is getting on, but he is training his son.
