speakers in door cards...

And it might seem obvious but do not forget that the window winder turns and to allow for the the window winder not touching the speaker surround when you turn the window winder to open the window. I have seen this mistake made! Good luck.

But 1st, position the cover grilles, making sure they didnt foul the winder handles

I've got 10cm speakers in front and rear doors and IIRC I had to cut into the door casing and bend it inwards to get more clearance .Can't recall if that was front or rear but it wasn't difficult

@grifterkid is that v8 series one the one i've just bought? From near huntingdon but reckon last owner only had it about 3 months!

I've got a set of NADA doors just fitted to the car just now, the speaker holes in the actual door are much larger then in my standard p6 doors. I plan on putting the speakers behind the door cards and so that they can't be seen.

These are the speakers I have planned.

As Kiwirover mentioned, having them hidden behind a set of a layer of vinyl is going to kill the top end frequencies, so where there original winders are I plan on inserting a set of tweeters, to re-gain some high end frequency.

I'll get most of this done by then end of next week, so put some photos up to show how it looks.

Gareth, I have a set of redundant Kenwood speakers from my centre console and parcel shelf, they're up for grabs if you're interested?

Just removed the center console from the TC, and cleaning it, restoring it. I plan on an oil and voltage guage where the center speaker used to be. The new radio/disk player will have speakers in the doors. I have cut holes for 6X9 speakers in the rear shelf . these will be recessed and flush when the cover is put back on. There is room in the angled sides of the center console for tweeters on either side of the new guages.
I am not afraid of cutting, modifying for function. This summer we will cut a hole in the roof to accept the electric moonroof I salvaged from my last Taurus.
Purists may now speak with disdane.

Not really - if he makes a pig's ear of it , he can put a new roof on .If he does a good job , we'll all be wanting to copy .Just need to find a modern car with the same roof curvature

So when this topic came up earlier, I talked about putting the speakers behind the doorcards etc, I think there is an earlier post about it on a previous page.

I've finally got it finished and wired up to a Philips 400, two 6x9's, two tweeters and two 10 cm speakers in the rear doors.

Thought I'd add a few photos.

Fraser,

Looks good. So you've used the window winder holes to fit the speakers into? The aircon/window console looks great in there!

Your door handles are a little off though.. should be more vertical than that.
