Spark Plugs

I tried to remove the spark plugs on my recently aquired P6 3500s only to find that the walls of the Plug socket I have are to thick to fit the recess in the heads ! ! I have had this plug socket out of a Draper set for about twenty five years and used it on V8 SD1s in the past,Can anyone tell me a brand of socket that will fit all the ones in my local shop are to big.

Thanks

Can you grind away part of the outside of your socket to make it slimmer ?
I use an old box spanner which I cut the middle section out of and welded it back together to make a short spanner which a 7/8" socket fits the top of

Or an older (60's?) Sidchrome 1/2" drive socket. Even then a tight fit and you have to get the angle right or the socket binds on the casting.

odd really - I have a draper 1/2" socket from my first socket set purchased mid 80's and it fits fine! I might have some box spanner plug spanners I will have a look and let you's all know if they end up in the bay :D

Looks like everyone's got their own different way of extracting spark plugs from a P6 V8, here's mine, I have a genuine Lada tool kit with a box-spanner exactly the right size for plugs, fits lovely! them Russians may not be able to build a great car but they make a very useful tool kit! :)
