Series 2 Pre-drilled panels

Am I right in assuming series 2 panels were pre-drilled from the factory, or were they drilled once fitted as part of the car's build up? I'm just concerned about getting the side trim lined up when I put the panels back on the car, and was wondering whether I should fill them and redrill once fitted. Anyone had problems lining up the chrome trim? :?:

I think you will find that they were a mix of both!
S1 panels were not drilled for trim,NOS door skins ive seen available are not drilled, but some NOS wings ive seen are.
If you have panels with existing holes,I would leave them as they are,as they will be so close to lining up,its not worth the hassle.
However,If you are of the meticulous, concourse, must be mm perfect brigade, then by all means fill them and re-drill them when you eventually get round to getting the panels all straight!! I am still trying "occasionally" to make mine all line up perfect after 7yrs!!
I have a mint set of S1 doors that one day will go on my S2,and I will have to drill them for the trim, and my spare, almost NOS, "fitted new on a resto project in the mid 80's but car never got finished" set of wings are S2 and drilled.

Cheers for that. I think I'm gonna take a chance on being able to get them ok-ish. I'm not in the mm perfect camp, but don't want it to be too noticeable. The panels I have to complete the job are from 3 or 4 different cars though... I know this because currently the front wings are red and brown, the doors are green, and the rear wings are blue!

Ive counted 15 cars, including an SD1 that have supplied parts to build and keep mine on the road!
Its probably more but I gave up counting!
