Hi There

I am looking for rear seat belts in good condition for my 1973 rover 3500s. Not looking for a freebie willing to pay. Or can anyone point me in the right direction where to buy.

Thanks

Paul

Mine came from the back of a Daimler soveriegn. I was lucky to know a Banger Racer. (He restores more these days than he races). Very cheep. (Free)
If you type rear belts or seat belts into the search on the forum you should find many links that mention them. I'm sure that one actually contains a supplier of "new" belts.
If you use second hand ones make sure they are not damaged or came from a car that was involved in a big smash. Not worth the risk.
If i find the link i'll reply to the reply.

Hi skilly, how did you get on with finding those belts.
I had a lovely set fitted by a freind of mine who is a professional interior upholster. He charged me £120 i think it was, belts and fittings included, and made a lovely job.

I believe all the threaded holes are there, so its not a major diy job, a bit of jiggery pokery with the parcel shelf I guess, im just lazy.
Let me know how you got on.

Don.

They were a joy.
Yes the parcel shelf was the most difficult. They are right on the back and side of the shelf as where the bolt needs to go through means the back of the reel is very close to the lip under the window and the edge of the "C" post (i guess it's called the "C" post.
I got into to the boot and poked something small and pointy up to locate the centre of the hole. Then from above i gently made the hole "just" big enough to push the bolt through. I fixed the bolts into postion without the reel there to make sure the bolts were long enough. (in the instructions on this forum it states that you need some bigger bolts. The bolts that came with the belts from the Daimler were long enough)
I then pushed the reel into place and after 10 minutes of swearing and pushing, managed to get the bolt to connect to the thread. The left hand side was easier. Although on the left i couldn't push up from below as the fuel filler pipe is right in the way. So knowing roughly where the right hand side one came through i guessed roughly the same position and pushed really hard with my thumb to locate, and dent the hole. Once i'd worked out where the hole was i used the small pointy thing again and then once i was happy that was the hole i made it bigger. Probably only 5 minutes swearing this time.
The lower anchor points were lower than i expected and were under the edge of the carpet on the sill. (There is another hole about a foot from the floor which is the right size for the bolt but didn't have any threads in it)
The instructions that are on the forum somewhere (i'll look for them when i've finished this) were very good and followed them to the letter. That is apart from the small self tapper screw that i couldn't find that holds the rear seat backs in. One jumps out at you and the other is hidden right on the edge that overlaps the carpet.
Time from start to finish. Just over an hour.
The only proviso i would say is this. Don't use belts that came from a car that has sustained an accident and don't use belts that look tatty. Any doubts don't use them.
I might be corrected on this but, once fitted, i think they become part of the MOT.
hope that helps.
