S1 2000TC rev counter

The rev counter on my '68 2000TC is registering about 1500rpm higher than it should. Can anyone advise where to start looking for the fault ? Is there a common problem with these units?
 
hi nigel i,ve just finished my 2000 tc series 1 and my rev counter is not registering it has a signal but as yet i have not had time to delve any further to sort it but i will let you know if i come across anything which might help
