Running rough on cold starts

I was wondering if anyone can help me.

My 1975 2200SC starts fine on full choke on a cold start but almost immediately begins to run a little rough and often dies.

I have to press the throttle a little to keep the revs up until the engine begins to warm up and then it is fine. The rough running sounds a little like moisture or something in the fuel but the problem disappears so quickly I have discountd this idea, unless somebody knows different.

This is quite a recent problem and I can't think of anything I may have done that may have caused this niggle.

Hope someone can help.

Is the SU carb's, dashpot topped up with oil?
Remove the black plastic cap and check, if not top up with engine oil..Let me know how you get on.
Other than this, have you or anyone else (service/MOT tester) changed the mixture setting. Also could be the timing...

Checked the level in the carb and it seemed ok but consulted the Haynes manual and topped it up a little.

Hey presto problem appears to have been eliminated!

Thanks for all your advice

Russ
