Running on 2000tc > backwards

I noticed with interest the other day, that my 2000tc runs on sometimes for a second or two after switching off the ignition.
Like all other 2000tc models that I have owned.
The interesting thing was that when it runs on, it seems to run backwards !!!
Switch off ignition, engine stops dead for a split second, then turns over in the other direction.....
I don't know if anyone has noticed this before... It doesn't always run on and most of the time it stops too quickly to notice, but yesterday I let the clutch up in 1st gear and the car moved backwards!!

Can't say I ever noticed that, my 2.2tc used to run on for quite a while sometimes, I think the unleaded fuel runs that bit hotter.

I guess its possible, but it wouldn't do it for more than 1 or 2 rotations, as in reverse it will be sucking exhaust gases in and trying to push exhaust back out of the carbs...
