Rover P6 3500 alternator control

I have a problem with the Lucas 4 TR control unit which doesn't seem to work at all. Ordered a new one from Wadhams which finally arrived at home in Finland after one month of shipping, customs declarations, paying duties and VAT. Total sum around 50 GBP. Anyway it turns out that the old one has two + terminals whereas the new one has only one. Also the old one is slightly heavier and thicker which indicates that it contains more electrical stuff. Otherwise the outer dimensions are the same. Question: Is it okay to connect both plus wires to the single plus terminal on the new box?

For £50, just fit an ACR or A127. I wouldnt mess about with the old 11AC. My lights don't go dim when the fan kicks in now...

Do you know the dimensions of the ACR or A127. The AC11 is quite short and at least the AC18 won’t fit as it hits the valve cover.
