Rover 2000 TC for sale

Depends how far things go, what if it turns out to be a S2 2200TC fitted with all his old S1 2000 stuff, and being passed off as that vehicle, would that be ok ?

I stress I am not saying that is the case with this vehicle.

To answer if that would be ok I think we all know the answer but I'll spell it out..
NO!
That would be a ringer!

Yes. That's my main concern.

Just the base unit number would be enlightening regarding this car.

I bought this one. Looking forward to take ownership of it. It will be living in South London. Can anybody recommend a good garage in that area?

Welcome to the forum Martin, you could now get some of the speculation about this car answered. When are you collecting or taking delivery? What area of south London are you in? Would be good to see it at some of the shows and meets

Thank you for the welcome. I really look forward to take part at p6 meetings. I test drove it but was not suspicious about the history due to lack of knowledge. It is in very good cosmetic condition. Panel gaps are perfect and all doors open and close, dare I say, like a Mercedes
It has a 2200 tc motor not a sc. I will no doubt find out more once I can also check the chassis number.
I am in camberwel London, so any recommendations about a good garage to have it serviced is very much appreciated.

Well done Martin .You've clearly bought the car for what it is . not what it should/might be .
As long as the seller and the car is legal it wouldn't worry me if it had some additions if they improve the base vehicle

I'm not far from you but can't think of any good garages in the area

The problem with it being listed incorrectly on the DVLA database is that the insurance company you choose make take those details into there system and you may find that if it is not updated with them to say 2200TC, then in the event of an accident, you may not be insured.
I have pictures of the car when it was white and the engine bay was red and it was a 2000SC most definitely. It did appear to have round choke knob at that point and also it didn't have a heated rear window switch but they could all have been changed and the other thing is the rear quarter lights which were the opening type when the car was white.
One final thing, when it was white it had the aluminium steering colume adjuster not the black plastic one. (Different boot lid now as well)

You could try the address below, Roy Mitchell was working on P6's when they were still being sold new, I've no idea how old he is but I would love to have half his knowledge and a quarter of his fitness :D
