Rover 2000 / 2200 5 speed conversion kit

Having done the conversion myself years ago, I would be inclined to think you'd be better off trying to do it significantly differently from the original plans published in P6 News as you intend to sell parts as a kit. The LT77 is a bit over the top for the 2000 and 2200 engines, and requires work in the tunnel to fit.

If I was wanting to make a conversion kit for the 4 pot models to sell, there are two options I'd consider which are beyond the average diy'er.

The first one would be to weld an adapter plate onto the back of the P6 4 speed bellhousing, mill the centre out to allow the entire front cover to protrude through and weld the LT77 style clutch release arm and cylinder housing on the side.

The second option would be to look at alternative gearboxes that are cheap, compact and readily available now, and have an adapter plate manufactured, maybe even propshaft adapter if required too.

I'm not trying to knock what you're thinking of doing, just that there are better ways of doing it that could be exploited for pocket money
