I am replacing the above as at least one is leaking oil at the rear and probably has been doing so for many years. I am sure they are the originals and like the sump gasket I replaced a few weeks ago, have been there since the car was built. The replacements are of "oil compatable" rubber. However I am receiving conflicting advice as to the use of a sealant. The gaskets supplier says use just a smear of engine oil, the Repair Manual says use Bostick sealant and a man who had 35 Rovers tells me to use "High temperature RTV sealant" (silicon). What shall I do?
P.S. I forgot to mention it is great to see the forum up and running again!
