Leather boxpleat in black, shiny wood cappings, motalita steering wheel, ETs front and back ...... and a plastic JVC stereo!! What I need is a supplier of retro car stereos for my P6.

Have seen them with adapters for MP3, but although im in my 30's I aint got a clue and only understand CD players and radio. Does anybody know where such a "retro style" car cd player can be bought?

Similarly I am not cutting my door cards for love nor money ... anyone have any interesting solutions to housing speakers .... I wont drill parcel shelf either (and yes want stereo).

a mate of mine found a retro looking fm radio/cd player [looks like a twerly knob radio but with flip front for cd player] from a supplyer in pratical classics around £80,he was the same with his mk1 cortina about speakers so he made up some small boxes out of mdf and put them under the front seats sounds good and not a speaker in sight

Good idea sir ... any idea of contact details for the firm? Are they still advertising in PClassics .... any chance of asking your mate for the number .. thanks ever so.

as far as i know they are still advertising in pc i will try and get hold of him and get the number

I had to keep things looking correct for Ex Met P6, but wanted some music on the move, so I came up with this idea!
It may also may suite some who still like to keep things original looking!

I had a pair under the front seats..sounded OK but it took me ages to find a pair of shelf mounts for the back. Everything seemed to need the parcel shelf carving but...

Surface Mounts!

OK..they're Pioneer but an easy install without cutting chunks out!

No good im afraid .. they only do old stereos reconned to accept FM ------ if you want a CD has to be plugged in as an additional device and put in glove box. MIght as well put a complete unit in there. The quest continues ... modern stereo, with CD with retro looks.

Anyone help??

I've read about putting 2 small speakers side by side, (stereo), on a baffle hidden behind the usual front speaker grill. I imagine the stereo sound to be similar to portable stereo players?
I have a modern unit in the left hand glove box with the strap adjusted so it doesn't open too far and thus is easy to use even with a front passenger! Were they ever used for gloves?

Still wold be better to have a stereo in dash. I do find the Rover blanking plate attractive, but not as attractive as having sounds easily to hand. Come on chaps, dig that number out for me ... I need my glove box for sweets, parking tickets and my littleuns junk
