Hello
After a long hiatus working on house renovations with zero fun factor, my second decade of NADA 3500S reno continues. Actually, in danger of completing it before the next pandemic. I went for a drive round the development for all money the transmission whine was horrendous. I thought that was a bummer as my warranty expired over 3 years ago when I had it reconditioned. Then I noticed the noise change a bit when I turned the steering wheel fast. I thought that is odd, so I disconnected the belt to the PAS pump and no "transmission whine". Result! Well, sort of.
Question - I presume this must be just something screwed up in the pump (that I reconditioned) and not elsewhere in the PAS system? I can't see what else could generate an RPM dependent whine?
Here is where I am even more glad that I binned my smaller leather covered and manky steering wheel as I much prefer the original ones. Crazy light with PAS but quite fine if you have disconnected it......
