Red 3500 on Car & Classic

Sure that was on here with a member who was going to mod it. Seem to recognise the badge mounting :|

Maybe I'm talking carp :)

Is that Adamhotrod's Jynx? I don't remember him having that grille badge. Perhaps Adam will be along in a minute to enlighten us.

At that money the base unit has to be perfect! Your inspection should include looking at the floors inside the car and having the carpets up away from the inner sills. You should have the rear seats out to look in the wells alongside the D posts. Any evidence of distress (take a magnet) on the curved D post mudguards inside the rear door apertures would be unacceptable. You should also have the carpet / rubber away from the boot sidewalls so that you can inspect the mountings for the de dion upper links. That's all as well as all the visible places you can get at from underneath!

It's unusual to see a '74 car with an interior in a popular colour having the series one style fabric backs to the seats. Stocks have normally run out by then and screw on hardback seats are normal. Therefore these could be replacements, so check that there is a small chrome plate in a slight depression on the side of the seat alongside the lower safety bely mounting. Without this you would be nable to fit inertia reel belts and S1 seats don't have it...

Otherwise looks quite promising.

No, Jinx was a '72 manual car.

The first of the two went for somewhere around the £2k mark originally, which is what I'd say it's still worth, certainly nowhere near £4.5k.
The second one went for about £700 or so, if I remember rightly, first time round, and, at that time, looked a bit of a state. Looks a lot better now. A classic which has been a write-off wouldn't bother me in the slightest. It's no worse than a car which is poorly repaired having rusted previously, or even one which has been restored properly. It's as much the same as it was pre-accident, as most classics are after they've been restored, in my book. As long as the work's done well, I couldn't care less if it's been written off.

Plus the cost of repairs (in the insurers eyes), means most get written off for minor damage, not big structural shunts.

Probably a lot of classics are written off as most insurer's approved repairers wouldn't be able to get the parts
All sorts of issues arise if they use 2nd hand parts

Once again I am grateful to the members of this board - I will curtail my planned trip to Cambridgshire!

Unfortunately Staffordshire is a bit too far, even for early Sunday risers such as myself. I have spotted a promising candidate, but I cannot reconcile myself with the colour:

I know it would be sacrilege for some members if I resprayed this in Westminster blue/BRG, but I think budget would dictate otherwise for the moment.

Just had the insurance reminder for my current money pit - my deadline is now 27th March...perhaps an interim eBay Saab 900 turbo will have to do while I continue gathering intel.

Many thanks for your advice & knowledge dissemination - will post a wanted ad in the right section too.

That looks a lovely car on the info and photos given.

If I were looking for a P6 that one would be of interest to me, and yes I do own an Almond one, so the paint does sit well on this car to my mind.

That's my old Almond girl, fancy spotting her while reading through theses posts. It's a lovely car and well worth a look. I spent quite a bit of money on her whilst in my ownership including a complete overhaul of the gearbox and i replaced all the wings and a doorskin,She's a nice solid example. If I had the cash I would buy her back now

Can't beat a nice Almond P6 with S trims. Lovely .... Sorry
