Rear number plate plinth

Peter,
Pictures a promised.
Won't let me send them as jpeg in a PM.
Chrome has slight marks that don't show in photos.
Jim.

Hi Jim, that looks pretty good overall. Do you think the little ding at the top will hammer out or is it creased?

How much you looking for it and how much does it weight? Got the bolts? Ecomony post is OK for me.

Yeah saw the new one Pilkie. Very nice too.

For now I'm happy it matches the general condition of the rest of the chrome. I'll probably rechrome later with the rest. Incidentally, I've been recommended S&T plating in your fair city by more than one freind who had motorcycle bits done. Any experiences with them?

Unfortunately I also need to drill it to take the plastic number plate holder. Swiss plates belong to the driver and hence need to be removeable. The black plastic holders have a clip mechanism to allow this, they are somewhat smaller than a UK plate.

Not sure I'd have the nerve to do that to perfect NOS, especially at £99. Although coincidentally that's the price of a secondhand one from Wins plus a rechrome anyway so in a way they are actually good value.

Thanks all, especially Jim. Top bloke.

S,T have done excellent chrome for me for my 1954 MGTF1500!
By the time you buy one s/h get it delivered, then post it to get rechrome done and sent back theres £99 gone dead easy!
Buy a nos one and it should last for years if well looked after, considering they were just bits on cars back then, and now mostly cherished motors polished and pampered!

Hi Pilkie,

I'll probably next year drop off all my chrome to S&T on my way to see my parents who live in Cornwall so no postage. Jim cut me a great deal and I'll probably get an good rate doing it altogether anyway.

Good idea, but I doubt it will be ready for your return trip, unless you stay for 2 months or pick it up next visit!

Hi, I got some NOS gasket. All I need is an accurate measure of the spacers so I can turn a set up on a lathe (2xshort, 2xlong). Thanks.
