Rear Gearbox Mount BW type 35

I have a wobble - Not me you understand but from my 3500 P6 which shakes at about 50-55. Between me and my brother we have checked about everything, tyres, prop, UJ's on the drive shafts. All at the rear seems good.

I got the car well elevated last weekend and started to move forward. Upon reaching the rear gearbox mount I established that this looks to be knackered (technical term). There is loads of movement and this allows the front of the shaft to move, I and am guessing (and Hoping) that this is causing my wobble.

Having contacted Wins the tell me they don't list it. Mine is a 1971 with a BW35 box. Wadham's do, but Wins tell me it is an offset bush, but mine seems not to be? It looks like a standard type of bush in an aluminium housing although there is quite a bit of movement so it could be that the wear has removed any ofset. The picture of the Wadham's one shows quite a big offset though.

So I am confused :? Are there two types for the BW35?? If so, how do I establish which I need and could the wrong one have been fitted in the dim and distant :?:

The bush is offset, and there are two types, dependent on the diameter of the bolt that goes through it, and that is dependent on the type of mounting bracket you have. Look here:

http://www.rover-classics.co.uk/images/ ... gs_jpg.htm.

And all should become clear.

On a 1971 car it should be the type on the right.

Great, thanks for that, it does look like the one on the right. Just need to get one now.

Dunno how I managed to post this up twice??

Have you tried Scotts Old Auto Rubber in Melbourne. I believe they have these.

James.
It looks like I have sourced one, slightly closer to home in London but thanks anyhow James.
