Rattly knob

Hi All,

Me again. Just driven back from my folks down the M23 and noticed that when travelling around (just over) 70mph I get a rattle from the auto gear lever that goes when you rest your hand on it but it isn't the knob/button itself.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Richard.

If there's play on the lever itself then it could be the spherical seat worn.

If you right click on them and view the image it brings them up in a more manageable size.

You could also try covering the detent tube and spring with grease, and making sure the whole assembly isn't loose on the floor.

Hello All,

Me again and yes I gave done nothing about this still!! But I am driving to the LeMans Classic in the summer and it will drive me mad!

Can I get hold of the spherical seat and if so is it possible to change from above with box in?

Many thanks

The bush is available from winns and also wadhams stock them.
I think they can be replaced from above ( in the cabin P6 ) definitely in a P5.

P6 spherical seat can be changed from inside the car, once the centre console is removed you can see the 3 retaining bolts.

Hi All,

I have removed centre console and can see the top of the 3 studs that have nuts underneath according to pics but can see no way of removing them from inside the car unless you can shed any light?? Looks like ramps remove exhaust section and get to them underneath.

Any ideas before I go the long way round

Thanks

Richard.

Just undo the nuts - it doesn't fall on the floor . Moves enough to get at the nylon bush

It's getting to the nuts that's the problem.

My mistake. When I wrote that it would come undone from inside the car, I was thinking it was a manual. Auto needs the nuts removing from underneath. Mind you there was over a 2 year delay between me posting the pics and you asking how it came apart.....
