Ok I think I need help now so call the men in white coats,
But has anyone here fitted a ram jet style intake on their carbs? I know a few are running K&N filters, but I was looking at a healey today with tripple carbs and it was using the HD8 carb, am I right in thinking this is the same carb used on the 2000? Ok there were 3 on the healey but they looked great with and ali bell housing as the intake, this set my mind to thinking, if its the same carb I can fit the intake to my p6, Am I right in thinking this is what the Roger Clarke rally car used? (4 KUE) and does anyone know where I can get info on the engine spec for this car?

Thanks

I feel a rally spec 2000 apearing in my collection soon :D

Ram pipes etc, my favorite subject !. Most old cars do not have very good induction systems, look at the sharp edges on a SU intake. A lot of air gets sucked in from arround the sides of the hole, and the round off the edges of a Ram Pipe makes a smoother run and a lot less tubulence = more air in ! Theres are also reasons for different lengths of Ram Pipe depending on engine and application, but I will leave that to the specialists with a rolling road and lots of time (unless someone out there has a Rover competitions dept manual with a spec sheet ?). Read a Dave Vizard book for more info !!

You can get short "Stub Stacks" from people like K&N which fit inside the filter. Ram pipes on thier own look good but just think of all the dust being sucked into the cylinders and wearing the bores ! If you are going to the effort of getting performance filters I would highly recomend spending an extra tenner for some stub stacks/short Ram pipes (depending).
