Hi there. Does anyone know of a company who will recore my radiator, preferably in Scotland? If so, do you know if they manage to keep using the fittings for the fan shroud etc. Many thanks.
Recoring a Rover rad is no different to any other - so let your fingers do the walking in the Yellow Pages. Any firm should be able to recore either with a core to match the original or with an uprated (ie thicker) one. You shouldn't be able to tell the difference from looking at the finished result - everything will still fit!
Note that the V8 is famously undercooled even when everything is in tip top condition, so this is a golden opportunity to uprate the rad with very small additional cost to what you have already planned.
If you want to go for maximum radiator performance then it is possible to order your core with all the rows in line for better air flow (conventionally each core is offset to the next so that as you increase the number - thickness - the air flow gets progressively more difficult). Alan Ramsbottom at Leighton Buzard can also now sell you an all aluminium radiator for ultimate performance.
Thanks for those guys. Colin, I may be coming through that way shortly. I'll give you a shout when I know. Cheers. Or are you going to the all rover rally at lathalmond??
I have booked a place and will be there hopefully on the sunday.
I have booked my P5 in for an MOT this friday but not sure if she will pass. I will be there maybe in the mini so I am sure you will spot it or the rough looking Black p5b coupe. The rad will be a bit big for the Mini but if the p5 passes the test I can stick it in the boot.
