Puncture repairs without changing wheel?

Nothing worse than about to go out
and discover you've got a flat tyre .
After a quick look and you have found a nail/ screw in tread.
Don't fancy changing wheel, best clothes on, finding jack, using jack on your p6.?
I carry these items in my boot.
A tyre plug kit and air compressor .
You could carry a tin of
goop to put in tyre .
What they dont tell you is that once used you have to replace tyre as the compound distroys it.
These kits use a self adhesive cord a gimlet / rasp and a tool to fit cord.
As long as your tyre is punctured in centre/three quarters of tread it can be fixed .
There used to be a kit 40 years ago which came with denovo cars but was made illegal to sell shortly after i think.
These kits are a new product and only ment to be a temporary fix.
That said i used mine last year on my Mrs car one morning, only took 5 mins
To fix and inflate with the air pump.
Still going strong with no loss of air.:D20161109_175554.jpg 20161109_175957.jpg

I bought this from our tyre spares / valves and weight person who comes every month to top up our stock.
He was asked to assess the kit and apparently had one tyre in use for 2 years!
As i mentioned the kit was a get you home in an emergency, saving you the stress of getting jack out ETC untill you had more time for a permanent repair.

I have a similar product for use on the farm .
Too far to go into town every time my six wheeler farm bike gets a puncture. And at $20nz at the tyre repair shop for them to fix , these little kits are a no brainer. I would use it on the Rover - no prob.

I when I get a puncture, plugs like these is all I use to repair. There are plenty of these plugs at the workshop where I keep my lift. We used 3 of them to plug a 1/4 inch hole in a semi trailer truck tyre the other week. They did the job, and fixed a $500 dollar tire.

They always have a statement about being a temporary repair. That is their lawyers talking, it helps keep them out of trouble with liability.

I had a plug like that on my motorcycle tyre and it lasted a few hundred km until I replaced the tyre due to wear.
I have on right now in my Land Rover Discovery.
To add to your kit, instead of that piddly compressor, rather look into one of these with a few refills....
co2 car tyre inflator - Google Search

That compressor is from a Citroen c4 Picasso and comes with tyre goop as there is no spare.( dont use the goop).
As i work for Citroen / Peugeot getting a few was no problem
Wink wink.;)

You've nailed it -Sir
My modern Pug has no spare wheel at all - just a box of trix , with a flash compressor and goop and an MT space where a wheel should be . Trust in Allah [fingers crossed too] helps

As long as you have a spare wheel well you may be able to fit a space saver wheel, have had a few customers who ordered one with a jack and wheel brace.

I bought a similar kit as our MX5 has no spare, just a compressor and goo. However the tyre specialist advice was not to use it, and obviously it is of no use if you have a sidewall hole. So my solution for the MX5 which gives me confidence out of town (like a 2,000 km trip to Adelaide and then back via the coast) was to buy a secondhand boot lid, add an early Land Rover bonnet spare wheel mount and mount a new aftermarket wheel and new tyre as a spare. Round town we take the spare off as it impedes rear vision (just as the boot mounted one on the P6B does).Less of a problem on highways as you easily see the B-doubles and 4WDs in the mirror

Yeah Im old skool too/ Its quite hard to get past the fact one doesn't have a spare - just a box of magic . Ive thought about a space saver , but after suffering a puncture and delving into the magic trix box in the MT wheel well of my Pug 3008 . I was panicking on the side of the road , but ,hey presto the magic worked . I sleep better now knowing the Frenchies know a lot about blowing stuff up e.g. Rainbow Warrior}
