Plastic cable ties fixing wiring loom to inner arches

Didn't know which section to ask this question in, but where can I get some new plastic cable ties to fix the wiring loom back in place on the top of my repainted front inner wheelarches? What are these fittings called? Knowing the proper name might make it easier to find some.

Hi there,
Not sure what they're called but you could try vehicle wiring products, they may be able to help.
Cheers,
Jon.

I'm not sure if they do exact replacements but you can get a plastic fitting that is screwed onto a panel and take a standard cable tie. Did you save the old ones? They are normally re-usable and IIRC they work in a similar way to the trim clips in that they push into place and small plastic slug is pushed in the middle to lock it in place.

They're not on Ian Wilson's (Rover Classics) website, but not everything he sells is, but I'd contact him. I had some from him (or his predecessor) some time back, and although not exactly like the originals, they're pretty close and fit in the holes in the inner wings just right

Bri.

Thanks for the feedback chaps. Sadly I didn't manage to get the clips from my project car out of the wings and off the wiring loom without mangling them :(
On my parts donor car they're still intact and in place, I will try and be more careful opening and removing them in order to re-use them on my project car. I have an ever-growing list of bits'n'pieces that I need to complete my project car anyway, so I'll probably add 'engine bay wiring loom cable ties' to it. Ian at Rover Classics will be hearing from me soon enough :)

Anybody here got any helpful hits or tips as to how to open the plastic cable ties that are still holding the wiring loom in place in my parts donor car? I really would prefer to be able to remove and reuse them, and not knacker them in the process. Looking forward to hearing from any member who has managed to extricate them withou damage.

Hi Mr T

I managed to get all of mine out without damage but it was a bit fiddly.

You need to insert a small screwdriver into the rectangular hole where the cable tie passes through. Try to get it between the clip (ratchet bit) and the strap and gently prise this upwards. The strap can then be wiggled out of the rectangle.

It is a bit fiddly

Have fun with that

Richard
