Hi, in the workshop manual describes , use sealant Bostalic? between the petrol filler and the hose.
Somebody used this or something else? is it really nessecery use sealant between filler and hoses?
thanks Hans.

I didn't use any sealant myself either when I refitted the filler neck and hose, no problems at all :)

I guess it depends how far you fill the tank up to. When I fill up I always fill it right up to the brim so there will be fuel sitting in the filler neck for the first 20 or so miles of my journey. I used a sealant last time I replaced it (can't remember which one) and have never had any problems with leakage from the filler neck into the car. If you never fill it up that far then you'll be fine without any sealant. Others may have different experiences.

I always used sealant, not only because i usually fill it up to the brim.
I have found that even when not completely full, on fast right turns the fuel tends to move up to the neck. Without sealant on the neck, i could smell the petrol in such cases.
A simple fuel resistant instant gasket stuff will do.
