Perspex Sun Visors

Hello there

I've come across a pair of dark perspex type sunvisors that were on my car.

Never come across them before - were they an optional extra??

...they're from a P4. I prefer them as they cut the glare but I can still see through them.

I expect they were replaced for safety reasons with the padded version

The ones on P4's are polaroid, I've got a set on the P6 - I understand that was normal with a sun roof fitted

I don't think so, but quite a few Webasto sunroofs had a 1 piece tinted perspex wind deflector that was hinged from the front of the sunroof and folded inside behind the sunvisors.
More likely yours were an aftermarket fitment added by a previous owner. As was previously mentioned, I think that the safety laws would have outlawed them (as original equipment) by the mid to late '60s but I do recall seeing that kind of thing advertised in old motoring mags.

I think they look brilliant... I suppose the 'top-tint' windscreen that came into being in the 1970's put paid for the need for tinted interior sun visors...?!
