Can anyone tell me what this snapped cable is please. It was attached to the throttle linkage before it snapped. But im not too sure whats its for so any help would be great. Cheers
If it were me I wouldn't try repairing it. The fact that you will have to remove it to attempt a repair means you may as well fit a new one. I wouldn't trust a repair to last especially as it's subjected to quite a bit of pulling not to mention when you kickdown hard.
It will change up and down, but with very early upshifts, and it won't kickdown, and you will be running at idle speed line pressure at all times, so there won't be adequate pressure to clamp the clutches, so they'll slip and judder under load. As I said before, don't use it with the cable disconnected.
without a cable from experience of a too long cable you're looking at a few hundred miles before gearbox implosion.... dont do it! Far cheaper to hire a car for a week if you need one while waiting for the cable than the price of a recon gearbox...
