hi , have had my old girl off the road now for a while, got all the base unit welded and shouldnt be long till finished. going to paint her in corsica blue, this is my first ever classic so everything from welding to mechanics is totaly new to me. so did a little reading on paint think for defo going to use hi build primer but for the colour i dont know what to use. saw some celulose paint that is gloss finished or go for the base coat then laquer. whats the pros and cons ? what would you choose? remember this is my first time, i do whant a nice job but wont be kicking my ass if it turns out just ok.
what do you think?

cheers

I would go for gloss celulose if you can still get it, they banned it end of last year but retailers are still allowed to sell any "remaining in the supply chain". As long as you get plenty (at least 5 litres for a full car) you can store it indefinately for later use. I've got paint thats at least 15 years old and still mixes and sprays fine.

That's the easiest and usually cheapest way to do it, plus with a solid colour (rather than clear over base) it's a lot easier to touch up sections and T-Cut etc.

Try these guys on ebay, I've bought paint from them and had good service. If you have a decent "back street" paint supplier near you I would try them first.
