Hi All

Doing some body repairs - please help with colours and paint types.
75 2200TC - What is correct black for sill cover.
Also Lunar Grey is amin body colour- what is best paint type for home repairs.
Have managed to obtain 1 K PROCRYL in spray tin and 1K OCTOCRYL in 1/2 Ltr. I presume these are acrylic. Is Lunar Grey available in good old Cellulose?

Regards
Nigel.

Hi Nigel,

The black for the sills is a satin black, the code number for which I have not seen documented.

As far as I am aware, acrylic lacquer and cellulose are just different names for the same type of product. Certainly neither is 2 pack, which is quite different not to mention being the most toxic.

Hi Nigel

These days 1k is the trade reference for "cellulose type" paint products i.e. those that do not require a hardener agent to dry.

Acrylic falls into the 1k category, and is compatible with traditional cellulose products, such as thinners, primer etc.

2k refers to 2 Pack products (paint & hardener plus a small percentage of 2k thinner) and as Ron has pointed out, are best steered clear of for the home/amateur painter unless you have decent ventilation, and a separate air fed mask for the painter due to their toxic make up (the hardener contains isocyanate).

Regards

Antony
