P6 Throttle linkage

Probably been brought up many times, but here we go again. Has anyone ever done away with this system and replaced it with a simple cable to suit a normal carb instead of twin SU's. My big problem is the brackets that hold the linkage are part of the inlet manifold which is getting replaced too, another factor is the car is my daily drive and cant aford to be out of action for too long, so would like to buy any cables, make brackets etc before i get stuck into it. Photos would really be appreciated it must of been done many times before. Thanks.

Hello. There are a few people on here with Webber (Edelbrock) carbs and the corresponding inlet manifolds so I assume the there must be an off the shelf conversion kit available for the throttle cable. Try giving RPI a call, they should know what you need as they sell all that kind of kit.

To confirm i'm sure i saw something like that when looking at their website (v8engines.com) - apparently the p6 is a special case!

thanks lads, i've just had the air cleaner contraption off for a better look and it looks like someone has had similar ideas before cos there is a bracket bolted on that would take a cable. also one of the linkage rods has got a lug brazed on that i'm going to modify to take the inner cable. all manifold bolts look like they will come undone ok so i'll keep you posted
