P6 Spotted For Sale. Can Anyone Save It

Spotted this tired old girl for sale last week in Lowestoft, The seller is asking £550. She looks very sorry for herself and has been there some time, so i'm told.

The advert stuck on the gate states the car is an SC but the grill shows TC, the advert also states the price is £650, so i dont know if he has 2 P6's for sale or its the same car and someone has changed the grill at some point. I have been there a couple of times but the place is always locked up.

The car looks overpriced as you will all agree but i thought i would bring it to your attention incase someone out there wanted to try and get it before something happens to it, I dont have the funds at the moment as im saving for a V8. :)

Poor old girl.

Given the state of the door bottoms, the model, and year of production, I don't suppose there will be many kind-hearted souls out there willing to take her on. I suspect one of the suppliers may be interested in snapping her up for parts if the price is right, though. I suppose it's better that than a load of usuable P6 parts going in the crusher....

spark plug related number plate :)

Haha! In that case, the seller will probably be asking 2 grand for it, and trying to spin the old "the non-transferable plate is worth more than that anyway!" line.....

That was on ebay over a year or two ago, and I remember it was listed as a TC. In your pictures it is a whole load better than when it was on ebay. I can't remember how much it went for, but my oh my it was a complete wreck, I believe with tow rope, a 4x4 in the background, and it was parked in a field next to the bush. I remember the car because of the numberplate being a sparkplug brand :) It's good to see that some effort has gone into it, and it would be a great shame to break what is already an increasingly rare variant of the P6.

I thought i had seen this car before Adam, its still there, i suppose someone has started to have a go at repairing it and then gave up. I will keep an eye on it as he might want shot of it and reduce the price.

If the base unit is sound, there's no excuse really for a future owner to not restore it. But at present I just have an ominous feeling that cars like this are going to continue to be broken for parts unnecessarily. In 10 years we'll look back on this as shameful behaviour and ask ourselves how and why we could have broken so many good, usable cars. If the rolling tax exemption is reinstated, we'll be even sicker!!

I must agree with you , i ve seen quite a few good rovers broken up , last year alone i know of 5 p6s that went to the crusher  that only needed small amounts of work. as you say in 10yrs time we will be sorry i think. i ve noticed that the prices are starting to rise and the p6 is becoming a popular classic car with all ages.
