P6 front seats

Hi there, can anyone tell me how to remove the hard panel on the rear of the front seats on a 1974 P6

They're held on by clips IIRC, & perhaps a self-tapper or two at the bottom. They should prise off with a screwdriver or similar lever.

I vaguely recall one needs to slide them up (toward headrest mounts having removed the retaining screw for the mount)

Yes, slide them upwards.
