Overriders

Can anyone tell me whether overriders differed between models or years? I have seen some advertised, but the ad says only that they are for a P6.

AFAIK there are only two types, short and fat (and common) and tall and thin (and rare). Virtually very pic on here shows the common ones, but you'd be hard pressed to find pics of the rare ones. Front and rear are different.

Thanks, the seller knows what position on the car it is for, but not which car. It certainly looks the same as mine from the picture (short and fat), so should be ok.

There are also the 2 that fit beside the number plate on the 2000's,these are really underriders, but often called overriders, and not fitted to V8's.
Are these on Ebay?
As Harvey has said front and rear are a different shape, also they are all left or right sided!!

There are three different types. (not counting the 2000 underriders Pilkie mentioned) The earliest were the tall ones available as an option from quite early 'til maybe '66? Very rare, you probably wont find any for sale.
Next were some French made cast aluminium ones that seemed to only be available on NADA cars from about '65 to '67. Also very rare, both these and the tall type need a hole drilled in the bumper for mounting.
By far the most common are the later short type. Fitted as standard to V8s from their introduction and an option on 4 cyls from the same time 'til the end of P6 production. The only variation on these are the NADA 3500S type which look the same but have a larger cutout to fit the fatter bumpers. These later ones clamp onto the bumper so no drilling required.
As mentioned all types are specific, front/rear/left/right so you do actually need a set of 4 to do it right.

NADA 3500S overriders bolt through the bumpers. there are also only two part numbers. Nearside front and offside rear are the same part, as are offside front and nearside rear. The NADA 3500S overriders look to be the other way up to the normal home market ones on the front of the car.
