Can anyone supply me with a photo of the original vinyl spare wheel cover that came with some P6's? Apparently they had a large embossed viking ship emblem, but no Rover lettering...

They come in at least 2 colours that I know of, black and brown. Not sure if the white one on Joseph Wilson's NADA is a bespoke item. So you'll need to give us a clue as to which colour you want

Im just curious to see what one looks like: ie; a photo of one? I bet its really hard to get hold of an original?...

The option was a "kit" and as owners were advised not to put the wheel on the boot without using the cover, the cover would have been part of the kit. The choice would have been what colour to have for the cover.

Original ones are out there. Good repros are readily available from Wins and probably all the other main suppliers too.

That cover is quite different to that used for the wheel within the boot. Certainly mine looks nothing like that, no Rover emblem, just an overall engrained finish.

Ron.

Not that I have noted but then I am in NZ and the spare boot cover maybe a local NZ content thing, perhaps the UK ones may have some production variation.

The standard wheel cover is a stiff, heavy rubbery vinyl thing which is open at the bottom to slide over the wheel when it is in the boot.
The boot mounted spare cover is a lightweight vinyl cover with an elasticated edge so that it can be stretched over the tyre when it is on the lid. This has the Viking ship logo embossed on it.

Are there good repros out there? All the ones I've seen don't look right, they are far too drawn in by the elastic at the bottom and the vinyl isn't lined with the same white cotton (I think) material and the general texture isn't right. The originals have a very *PVC" quality about them.

And the repro's i've come across don't last long either!
Poor quality manufacture and material.
Try to find a good or NOS original.
Black is quite common!
The 3 "I believe",brown shades are rare!
BTW! They came in 2 sizes for the 165 and 185 tyres.
