Beware the first line of the description.

It reads;
This is an Aution for a wheel nut from a ROVER P6

Does this include the whole car or just "as stated" a wheel nut??????

If you put a bid on the auction, you're only going to win a wheel nut.
The seller is placing an advert to get viewers to contact him with what they want off the car, but to place an advert, he needs to be seen to sell something :)

Brian.

I hae seen a wheel nut offered in an auction when somebody wants to break their car on a number of times - I guess it is a cheap way of advertising the parts you have for sale - I don't think that offering parts in this way is in accord with e-bay rules though!

I believe the idea of the 'wheel nut bid' is to deter people placing bids for what is an unquantifiable price for what could be a small or large amount of various spares. Breaking traders (as this one) include their mobile numbers so you call them for what you need, agree a price over the phone and take it from there.

This takes the transaction outside the Ebay mechanism and therefore the level of protection afforded by Ebay to both the seller and the buyer. For example you can't leave feedback of the purchase/selling experience. I am therefore surprised Ebay allow 'bids for wheel nuts' to be allowed as this somewhat defeats the object of placing a bid for an item which is advertised and effectively allows the advertiser to place an ad for potentially thousands of parts for a meagre sellers fee. Ho hum.

I had all of my recent ads pulled by Ebay for an extreemly minor infringement, causing them to accuse me of trying to avoid listing fees and charges! One thing I said in the ads was I would accept cash on collection!! DUH!! Apparently its not allowed!!!
I am sure it was down to some foreign mediator that could not speak let alone understand the english language! Needless to say I was a TAD!! annoyed.
I relisted,and then they did it again,because I said..
" I am having a clearout, and will list the parts as I find them"
So now they decide I am again trying to circumvent fees!! How?? I dont know!!
They obviously have double standards!!
They really know how to Pi** one off!!
There are bucket loads of ads listed that infringe the rules! I reckon they have a purge every week or month, starting with ebay names beggining with,"A" and going through to "Z" then 1-9.
They seem to imply that you have no rights to advertise anywhere else if you use ebay! YEAH RIGHT!!!
Thats a MONOPOLY!! and isnt legal,so I told them so in a very strong but polite email!!
Its still a case of " watch your wording!! if you even hint at doing trade off ebay with a direct email or mobie number, you run the risk of having it pulled and even being suspended from using ebay if you are unlucky!!
As buyers we can always send a Q to the seller and "DO A DEAL" off ebay if you are happy to do it! Got many a great bargain that way!!!
Rant over!!
Dave
