Can anyone advise me how to change the oil pressure transmitter on my 73 P6 3500 Auto ? Looks like a failrly straight forward job, but still, I struggle to get a spanner in position to get the old transmitter out. Any advice will be much appriciated !!

Me too - the new one is in the ashtray after I gave up, and its doing no good there, so anyone brighter than us please help!

Sometimes the old one works if you give it a tap with a long screwdriver
To get it off the best tool is an 18mm open end spanner ( I think that's 3/8" whitworth) cut down to about 3 inches long
It won't be tight
Having big hands I find it easier to remove the alternator for access
How much did you pay for your new transmitter ?

So a bit like changing the brake/clutch master cylinders then? I paid about £3 + p&p on ebay for a new packaged sender.

I havnt worried too much about fitting it as the guage works and shows good pressure, its just the light that stays on.

I done this a week ago - whip the alternator and its mounting bracket off - 3 bolts hold the bracket in place. Job is easy after that - once you wriggle a spanner onto the old one! And dont forget to transfer or replace the copper sealing washer! :D

Thanks a lot for all your advises. Will try again this weekend. Paid £35,- for the new transmitter at J.R. Wadhams :) :)
