Folks

News flash - I've managed to negotiate with the National Trust, who have recently taken over the property, for an RP6C/RSR All Rover Day at Nuffield Place, the glorious former home of Lord Nuffield.

Here's some photos from the 2006 gathering:

The good news is that there will be guided tours and refreshments, and it'll be freebie. The bad news is the only days they are opening the house this year are Wednesdays and Thursday, so we are going for Thursday 18th August.

I appreciate this will limit the attendance, but our hand in getting a weekend bash next year will be strongly enhanced by turning out for this one (it is during the school holidays).

The house is one of my favourite places to go, hope you can join us.

Please let me know if you're planning to come so I can advise the National Trust of numbers.

Many thanks
Nick

looks interesting... If PAE isnt on the road by then i'll be sleeping outside in a kennel so it will be on the road!

Excellent Rich. Keep me informed.

Thanks Nidge, I'll get you on the list.

What I would say to anyone though is don't sacrifice going to the JRC event on the Sunday following for this one. A lot of planning has gone into the JRC event and I don't want to upset anyone by stealing attendees for this one!

There is an article about Nuffeild House in this months Practical Classics,....just thought i'd mention it

I'll be going provided I get Hermy up together in time,I haven't done anything to her for 3 years,...and it's started to show

Can I bring my E-type instead? OXC is in the garage with the Estate pod half fitted, so won't be going anywhere for a while..

I'll try and book the day off this - being a Morris 8 owner as well as the P6

Neil

Excellent. This will be a pretty informal day out, but will be very enjoyable. As long as we've got enough cars to impress the National Trust it should open the doors for a bigger bash next year.

Cheers

Folks
Just an update on this. We have at least 15 cars for this event - if you're thinking of coming it's the more the merrier.

Due to demand we're now looking at getting some plaques done to commemorate.

Let me know if you're coming.

Thanks
Nick

Would love to attend but sadly, knowing my company,I will not be able to get the day off. :(
Would be excellent if sat's or sun's could be wangled just for classic car events!!
But I will be going to Rugeley again, this time in the V8.

Hopefully you've still got me included on that list, Nick.

Myself and the OH will be there in Occie - and looking forward to a great day out! :D

Folks

I’ve advised by Kev Watkiss that all hell is breaking loose in Reading starting today, roadwork-wise, and chaos (even more chaos than is normal in that part of the world) is forecast for the next 14 weeks.

Reading Borough Council's road improvement scheme includes roads accessing junctions 11/12 of the M4, Caversham Rd, Bath Rd Calcot, Oxford Rd, Shinfield Rd, Vastern Rd and around Reading Station. It’s a no-go area.

Kev suggests folks coming up from the south meet up at his place on the outskirts of Reading (east of Junction 10/M4/A329M, A4 Twyford) and we’ll then go cross country together via Sonning, Shiplake and Henley, avoiding Reading centre. It’s about a 9 mile drive from Kev’s.

Kev is at the corner of Fairview and Charvil House Road, those using Satnat the postcode is RG10 9RD. We’ll be leaving for Nuffied at approx 10am.

See you there.

Regarding this even please let me know if you’re coming, I think we’re looking at 20 cars or so now, should be great fun.
Cheers
Nick

This sounds like a good day out and I'd like to come along providing I am not working that day and have managed to finish getting my Rover 2000 roadworthy.

iI'm stll on (shocks allowing!) - was thinking from here A272/A34 might be better for me

Neil

It would be Neil. The A34 route from my place though is certainly the long way round (but usually better for traffic).
