Not started for a year - Engine preparation

Dear all

After suffering a blow out on the M1 last may, which destroyed the battery, battery box and rear wing, I have not started the engine since.

I want to re-commission the car ready for the summer but I am unsure as to what to do prior to starting the engine.

I do not want to cause un-necessary wear to the engine as most of the oil would have drained to the sump.

Can anybody offer any advice.

Many thanks in anticipation.

I'd remove the sparkplugs, stick a few shots of oil down the bores, then after making sure that it's not seized by turning it over by hand, (which is unlikely,) crank it on the starter until the oil light goes out. Then refit the plugs and fire it up.

I would also use fresh petrol.
