New P6 Owner

Gaz

New Member
Hi guys, just thought I'd do the decent thing and introduce myself before I started or answered any threads. My name is Gary, most people call me Gaz. I've just bought a Rover P6 2000 SC last Sunday, and attended the Rover show at Beamish on Sunday the 15th May.

I'm 47, married to a wonderful woman, have two grown up lads, 18 & 22, that are bigger than me now and love anything to do with Classic cars.
I also own a 1969 Bedford CA Dormobile, a 1966 Lambretta 125 Series II and three 70's Raleigh Choppers. I'm also addicted to the 1:43 Vanguards diecast model range, which is getting out of hand now. :?

Anyway, that's me, I hope to contribute as much as I can.

Gaz :D

Welcome Gaz, I am sure that the fellow contributors on this forum can help you out with your many and sad addictions  as I am sure many here share them.

Cheers Graeme

Welcome Gaz

We used to have a 1967 Bedford CA dormobile in the family many years ago. It was up for sale on eBay recently and sold for just under £2.5K. Would love to see some pictures of yours, as well as the rest of your collection :D

Dave

Thanks for the welcome guys. :D Dave, click the links in my signature and you'll see photos of my collection. :D

That's a cracking dormobile there Gaz. Great resto pics too. Good to see how it's evolved over the course of the resto. The final colour looks good and good to see you added the headlight eyebrows. I think they finish the front end better. Good to see you've retained the original units inside too. I used to love driving around in summer with the door open too :D Will you be putting the white side flashes back on?

Dave

Welcome to the forum Gaz.

Which one was your car at Beamish?

Cheers
Nick

Hi Nick, I've only had the car a week, it's a 2000 SC in "Fire Engine Red" which will be repainted a different colour. Also, I'm not a fan of the rear rack which has already been removed.

Do you have any pics???

Do you mean of my Rover, or my collection?

Thanks for the compliment Dave. I'm not too sure about the flash at the minute, as I like the uncluttered look of the van, but I do like the flash too. I'm undecided at the minute. One of the things that puts me off is the metal striping isn't available now, and I'd have to replace it wit a modern sticky on plastic stripping which may spoil the look of the van. :?

Hello Gaz,

Welcome to the forum.. :) I know you will enjoy the time that you spend here. Nice looking Rover that you have there too!!

Ron.

married to a wonderful woman,

you are a lucky man if she lets you collect all those vehicles and models! :D

Welcome to the forum Gaz. What colours were your considering for your P6 repaint?

Aha! I thought it might be....I had to do a double take at Beamish as the car looks seriously like Tony Bunting (ajcb)'s car.

I call the colour of his car 'Lumo-Bunting Red'. It's really loud....

:D

Yep, I am lucky, that's why I thought I'd tell you guys. Thanks for the welcome JVY, I'm not too sure about the colour at the minute as I like a few of the colours Rover do. I like the Monza red, the pastel green, and the pastel yellow. I suppose I'll make my mind up nearer the time.

Yep, too loud for me. :D

I wasn't going too Dave, I had it up for sale on Sunday for £20, but no one wanted it. Do you recon I was asking too much?

Oh yes....lovely Dormobile. My dad had one when I was a nipper, hand painted purple with a white flash & the roof extension was the type with two arched sides with windows which pushed up a hard but flexible cover above them.
You must re-instate the flash, it's an integral part of a Dormobile.

Welcome to the Forum Gaz. I was talking to you at the show on Sunday, I was there with my Dad. Glad to see you joined :)

Will.
