Hi Robert, and welcome to the forum! :)

Lots of friendly advice on here, and most P6 questions have been asked over the years. Play around with the Search facility and (usually) the answers can be found popping up.

Whats the best way to sort out a non working fuel gauge guys any tips pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Your gauge may be OK and the fault lies with the sender unit. Again, this could be the sender circuitry or (more likely in my experience) a punctured float.

Have a look here: http://www.classicroverforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=7725&hilit=fuel+gauge

Good Luck!

Having bought a replcement rdiator in good condition for only £20.50 i have just noticed it is missing a port which my existing one has. Does anyone want a radiator and can you tell me the best place to go and what to expect to pay please. This site is going to be so helpful i can tell, and where to find a front badge for the bonnet too. looking around they ar so expensive must be getting rare now.

All P6B rads are the same so it seems strange that the one you've bought should have something missing. It may be the missing part is of no consequence anyway so a pic would help to see what's going on.

What's up with the rad? Can it be repaired and/or recored to a triple whilst you're at it. Helps with the cooling.

Rover Classics has bonnet badges but he's off on hols for a couple of weeks.

I'd guess that you have a 3500 Auto and the new radiator is for a 3500S. The auto has a cooling coil for the auto transmission fluid fitted into the cool side tank of the radiator. So you would be missing two small diameter connections.

In a way this is an opportunity. The P6 is a little undercooled and can play up in stop start traffic. To cure completely, get the existing radiator recored with a 3 row core instead of the existing 2 row. I'm afraid that's nearer £150 than £20 though

While you're at it, get the rad shop to add a rad fan switch to the hot side tank (they'll understand what that means) as you're almost certain to want to add an electric fan instead of the engnie driven one.

Hi Just a few bits of info on my rover she has been off the road since 1988 from what i can understand it was owned by an engineer and she is so solid and no rust, back on the road last year bought by someone to use as wedding car but decided to sell and i am the lucky guy (i hope) Where do you guys meet up how often etc.

A very familiar car - we fitted the carpet in this one - I've not driven it but do remember it's very clean under the bonnet.

There is an outside chance it's an ex-police car. The roof is a later addition but there was wiring in it that suggested it may have a hidden history.

Cheers
Nick

If that is the original regn. no. then I do not think it will be an ex-police car. That registartion number is local to me (Devon) and the local constabulary were Ford based and did not use any Rovers at that time other than Range Rovers; they had some 827s in the late '80s but no P6s.

It is, of course, possible that the car might have had personal plates at some time and been re-registered in Devon on a date-related plate later in its life. In which case and if originates elsewhere, then Nick may well be right.

It was only a hunch that Duncan had due to the wiring on the car being all over the place and the roof having been replaced. Anything is possible.

hi and welcome
Nice motor did you buy her from kent? I may have a head light for ya ill check tomo.

Hi Robert,

Welcome, and well done on the car - looks solid, proper, original and in a nice colour if I may say so... Lumenition should do you well and I see yours seems to have an external ballast (the pen-shaped thingy) mounted next to the coil? I had one, which was dud and got deleted anyway when I fitted an electronic module to the dizzy but the Lumenition works well with it I seem to recall.

Anyway, happy motoring!

Hi guys thanks for all the comments and help just found page three etc bit slow of me. I am having the radiator recored at a cost of £175 by Hornet radiators should be ready tomorrow so hope to be on the road sat, not driven it since i got it home as the rad went just a couple of miles from home.
I fixed the temp gauge but still have to check the petrol gauge.
i changed the headlights to bulbs as one was blown anyway changed the blown one first and it worked then changed the other and the first one stopped working ?? might have a strange fault there all fuses ok tested those. i went to whitewebbs and enjoyed looking round the cars Guy made me feel most welcome pity about the colour though
I will be at the case is Altered and hope to be at Enfield in May too might not show the car but will be there. Does anyone know a good paint sprayer near harrow i need the bonnet respraying i assume the colour to be pendilican White can anyone confirm How i can check.
Again lots of thanks to you all look forward to meeting you at some point.
Robert

Hi Robert look forward to meeting you again at the case,

Hasn't taken you long getting into the forum spirit :D
