OK, so I've finally managed to change the forum software.
Took a fair bit of work, not to mention re-writing some of the new forum code, but hopefully this will now allow us to move forward and add some new features to the website.
I've still got loads of changes to the style to sort out, I've got the header on but all the colours need sorting out etc.

I've also enabled live posting ! (fingers crossed on that one !)

I tried out the search, looks like it can only do 1 year!! is this correct or can you search from the start of the forum?

It SHOULD go right back, I spent the best part of 2 days rebuilding the search indexes !

I've just done a search for "boot mount" and sorted the results in ascending order of date, and it gave me results back to 2003 which I think goes right back to the start of the forum.

Have another go, see if it goes.

I noticed there was older posts there but the "search Limit" only went to one year. is this to confuse the masses??

I like the return to the instant posting will be great again.

Thanks Colin, I understand now, that's quite strange but I guess it's just a feature of the forum software, I suppose you can return all results or limit it to sometime in the past year. I'll have a look and see if I can add some more options, if I can I'll add 2, 3, 4, 5 years.
 
Nice one Richard, you've done a great job and done the club proud.

I hope everyone in the club (as well as those non club members using the forum - come on, cough up and join!) appreciate the work that you have put in to do this migration and implementation. It is a substantial amount of work for which we should be eternally grateful.

I hate to bring it up after all the hard work but??? Hows the Gallery section coming along??
 
Hi Dave, and thanks to everybody for the great comments, it's nice to be appreciated !

The gallery shouldn't be far away, I've been pretty busy at work the last week or so due to a 10th aniversary party yesterday, and we have our Piece Hall show tomorrow (16th, still some space for late entries, see www.roverrally.co.uk), so I've been up to my eyeballs ! at least it's all finished this weekend.

I've got next week at work and then we're away on holiday for the first time in 4 years !! So it could be a few weeks yet, but I'll do my best !

Well done Richard. Changing phpbb code can be great fun, I've seen the Mrs have some really enjoyable evenings with it!

Look forward to the galleries being added, any chance of a "garage" section??
 
Well done for all your hard work Richard. It's great to get back to live posting, without that annoying delay caused by waiting for posts to be "moderated". I'm sure if we're naughty, we'll be deleted, but I'm a good boy............ :D
