I made these for my car and put them on e-bay to gauge demand -- 7 watchers --- no bids. I will be making rear cards also and its easy to replicate them once they are a good fit so happy to make copies for others and would only want cost of materials back.
cost for a full set of 4 would probably be around £10-£12MAX! as I'd buy bigger sheets.

any comments?

Brilliant idea - Well done - Just because no-one made a bid yet doesnt meen no demand - Lots of people wait till last seconds to bid. Also - the person who wants them might not be looking on ebay this week!

For example - I would probably be interested in about 6 months! (my thoughts would be to have some leather and padding stuck on after purchase) I have terrible cards with massive speaker holes cut into them - (previous owner I hasten to add was the butcher!)

ps - What material have you used?

I think one thing that would definately add value is if you were to punch the holes for the stitching that goes along the card about 2" from the top.

I think the stitching would be very difficlut to do with out a industrial sewing machine and to have the holes there would help someone doing their own DIY trimming. However I realise it would probably bump the price up a bit. How have you got on recovering the cards yourself??

How are you cutting all the holes at the moment? By punching or by drilling?

If you're confident that they're accurate I will definately have a full set as mine are rather wobbly although the material is fine. Probably true of most door cards. Let me know as soon as your ready as I'm hoping to finish the car for 1st week in April and a set of straight door cards would finish it off a treat!

Hi, I have fitted one door card back onto the car so far. some adjustment is required to the mounting holes (before the material etc is fitted) Probably due to not having the "best" template the in world! I would probably try to improve on this with future items.

The cards are made of 4mm hardboard so this is easy enough.

The holes for the stitching : I guess at the factory they might have done the stitching before gluing on the foam/vynil. you would have to make sure the vynil is lined up with the window/door handles and tape it down so it does not move, over align it and take a chance gluing it on before sewing. I glued it on this time, but I was not accurate enough (purely my fault!).
I then used a 1mm drill to drill through the holes already in the vynil. Next time I would put the drill bit in a press/stand to ensure all the holes are vertical.
Sewing was not too bad I got some thicker than normal thread and doubled it up. - sewing still took about 2 hours....

I could predrill the holes but this would not be a good idea as you would have the worst job in the world trying to align them - impossible!

Even though I cocked up aligning the vnyil/ did not pull it up enough at the top the end result is much much better than before and was worth the effort. If you can get someone who is experienced at sewing they would make a neater job than I did.

I'll post again once I get some rear ones done.

Derek :D
