My Dad had one

Hi, I have always remembered the excitement I had as a boy too young to drive, when a smashed 1971 Rover 2000 TC manual was delivered and pushed into our back yard from the breakers yard. That was the only way we were going to get a car like this. I rushed home every day after school to follow the old fashioned methods of straightening her out and getting her working. Soon the car came to life and everyone had a permanent smile. The body parts were replaced and repaired and finally she was ready for her new total respray. When she returned home she was beautifully restored to her Tobacco Leaf Brown. This was our family car and was not regarded as a classic and was used as a work horse and finally run down to the ground. Years later, she ended up being taken back to a breakers yard and never seen again. As an adult I have always dreamed of getting a Rover and on Sunday 4th November I made a deal with a nice gent called Rob in Oxford-shire. He delivered the car as agreed on the Saturday 17th of November. You guessed it, its Tobacco Leaf Brown but its a 1975 3500 auto. I drove it all that day and visited my in-laws. The next day my young brother dragged me out of bed and we went to the NEC classic car show. We saw some amazing cars including the Rover P6's and met some very nice Rover owners. So now I'm an enthusiast but only enthusiastic about driving it, not tinkering or diy. However, that may change as I am already looking at ways to improve her condition. Hello to you all... will post pictures soon.

Welcome to the forum, good to hear you are already enjoying the experience of Rover ownership. I look forward to seeing the pictures :D

Thanks to you all for your compliments.. She is lovely and I hope to maintain, improve and most of all ENJOY! to the full :D
as far as the story is concerned, I think my son, also too young to drive, has been inspired and loves the car. This may be a never ending story regarding Tobacco Leaf Rover........

Lovely car that it is, you could branch out of the "plain Vanilla" Tobacco leaf and get "cosmik" with some of the other funky 70's colours like Saffron and Avocado or Paprika........ just sayin  after all how can you own just one P6
