Fit flywheel off 3.5 SD1 onto 3.9 that was auto. Any issues with balance with this swap?
Spoke to someone years ago that had done a few, reckoned he hadnt had an issue.
Also, just curious, can Landrover V8 flywheel be modified to use in an application as above?
Cheers guys

Hi, The flywheel and/or the drive plate is balanced individually so won't cause a problem. The only problems with using a Land Rover flywheel is it is heavier and is drilled for a 10" clutch pressure plate, so you will need to get it redrilled. I believe there can be clearance issues if you use a 10" clutch in the car bellhousing (assuming LT77)

I used an SD1 flywheel, clutch plate and pressure plate with a modified auto bellhousing and have had no issues.
When I went from LT77 to a Jag box, all I did was fit an appropriate clutch plate and carry on...

Curious. Whats involved in modifying the auto bellhousing?

Cutting a hole in the right place to access the release arm and fabricating a secure mount for the slave cylinder and a suitable adapter for the gearbox to fit the circular housing vacated by the BW box.

It sounds easy, but I had access to a machinist friend and his training school machine shop.
He took it in to work and presented it as an exercise for his apprentices to figure out and fabricate.;)
