Howdy,

I'm thinking its probably about time to replace the mains and big ends,

where is the cheapest place to get bearings for the 2200SC, the only supplier that has them listed on their site appears to be bloody expensive compared to bearings ive bought for other vehicles!

any ideas where best to get them from?

Regards

Ebay. They often turn up for about 25-30 quid a set unless you want standard size which are a bit harder to find, then you're back to Wadhams.

Yes, they're very hard to find. I was scouting ebay for about 9 months prior to my end rebuild, but only ever managed to source a set of Mains in standard size. There were two or three examples came up in that time. I haven't seen any rod bearings before or since in standard coming up, so JRW is seemingly the only option.

His bearings are remanufactured, not NOS, so at least you've got the guarantee they won't be damaged or pre-opened. That said, they must be made by a supplier somewhere, so I'd be tempted to call around the real specialist P6 engineering firms (Mark Gray and Classeparts) to see if they could give you a better price if they know the suppliers as well... Don't know if you don't ask...!

thanks, ill have to take the sump off and spin a few bearings out to check what sizes i need.

I noticed that as well as JRW selling them, Wins have them on one of the two variations of their site. its the first time ive ever wished for a crank to be undersize as the undersize shells are cheaper than standards!

ah yesi remember that name.

i might try to take a shell or two down to to my local engine remanufacturers as he might know if they match up with any other shells available, if we could cross match the shells to another engine that would sort the problem with crazy prices.
