Loud chattering in 4th

Hi all my 2200 tc has a very loud chattering noise in 4 th if I ease off on the accelerator it goes off but as soon as there's pressure back on the accelerator the chatter comes on again. Any ideas anyone? Thanks

I take it that there is no noise in the lower gears?

Just a lay shaft noise in 3rd gear, thanks
