I have a 1971 almond 3500 auto with a huntsman vynil roof and what looks like a light grey leather interior- but the car was green before (dark Green)
was there a grey interior with the green cars?

what colour options should I go for if re-colouring (interior/ well seats are shot ) that would go with almond/huntsman combo?

Hello scauto,
The interior colours for Almond and Cameron Green were the same, i.e. Buckskin (off-white or mushroom-like - could this be your "grey"?), Ebony (black) or Sandalwood (tan, reddish-brown).
The Huntsman roof (also cills and quarter panels) colour was available on the "S" models from October '71 on the Almond but not on the Cameron Green which was only available with ebony roof, cills and quarter panels..
Hope this helps with your decision!
Regards, John.

Thanks John

It will be buckskin then ( My 2000 has tan leather interior)

Did only the S come with the vynil roof ? if so guess some one must have fitted it later ... bummer as its past is best

so I'm looking for Buckskin seats.. but reckon I'll end up going the recolour route - to 2000 look almost as new ( if you ignore the odd wee tear in the leather. .. :D

Hello scauto,
Black & Huntsman vinyl roof coverings on "S" models from October '71 (i.e. launch) but only standard fitting on 3500 from October '73 and became optional on 2200 models from October '75.
Don't think that I am sad enough to remember all these facts - I use James Taylor's excellent book "Rover P6".
Regards, John.

scauto.

Dont be frightend of recolouring. I bought the kit from Woolies (it cost me about £65 for the lot).

I only used about half re-doing a very crappy looking bronze boxpleat. I thought I'd made a big mistake when I first bought it but I had sold mine already. Long story. Anyway, it was absolutely brilliant!

One tip. If you do buy the same kit (which is applied with a cloth that they supply with the dyes etc), remember that you are painting the stuff on and dont do what I did first, and try to rub it *into* the leather! I think the word is rather - *onto* (if you know what I mean!!

Johnny.

P.S. Ohh, and the kit makes you realise just how close human skin is to leather! Looked like I'd smoked 60 woodbines a day when I'd finished - suppose gloves would have been a good choice!

:D

Im with Johnny

The Woolies kits are fantastic, very easy to use and if you send them a sample piece they will match any colour. I'll be using some to make some toledo red seats very soon!
